Maritime Information

  • The National Maritime Information Database (NMID) is a dynamic database containing the details (vessel or coast station information, vessel name, owner, type and size, etc.) of all Maritime Mobile Service Identities (MMSIs) assigned to Canadian vessels and coast stations by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
  • The Maritime Identity Search contains the Maritime Identity number and the owner name of all registered Maritime Identity Portable Devices.
  • To access the protected areas of the Spectrum Direct site ( ), you will need to create a Web Profile to obtain a user name and password.
  • If you need a Web Profile or have forgotten your password, please contact the department.

MMSI General Public:

This section is available to the general public. The National Maritime Information Database (NMID) is a dynamic database containing the details (vessel or coast station information, vessel name, owner, type and size, etc.) of all Maritime Mobile Service Identities (MMSIs) assigned to Canadian vessels and coast stations by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.

Protected Maritime Information:

This section contains all the information of regular and restricted stations. You can create, modify, deactivate and reactivate station records.

Spectrum Direct Web Profile Management:

  • Use this option to update your Spectrum Direct Web Profile or to change your password.
  • The Web Profile options are for Spectrum Direct only. To use the new Spectrum Management System site you must request a New Web Account.
