Licence Search

Enter the licence number, company name, account number, frequency or licence process associated with any active spectrum licence, and click the Find button to view matching licences. The Select link associated with the Company Name field provides a list of current spectrum licensees. The Licence Process drop-down window allows you search by types of spectrum licences.

Fields

Licence Number
The seven-digit identifier of the licence. Enter the complete seven-digit number of a single spectrum licence that you wish to view.
Note that a partial licence number will not be matched.

Company Name
Name of the licensee as it appears on the licence (if an individual, family name last). Enter the company name of the spectrum licence you wish to view. Clicking on the Select link will provide a list of all current spectrum licensees in alphabetical order. Note that if you are unsure of a company's full name, the "%" character may be used as a wild card. For example, if you wish to search for all variations of company names used by Bell Canada, enter "Bell%." and click on the Find button. This type of search will result in all company names beginning with the word "Bell".

Account Number
Your account number with Industry Canada for spectrum licences, including the two-digit district office and nine-digit number that identifies the licensee. Enter the complete two-digit regional prefix and nine-digit account number of the company whose spectrum licence you wish to view.
Note that a partial account number will not be matched.

Frequency (MHz)
Enter the frequency in megahertz associated with the spectrum licences you wish to view.

Licence Process
Indicates the licensing process under which the spectrum licence was issued. Select the type of licence process used for the spectrum licences you wish to view. Click the drop-down menu to search through current licensing processes.

FCFS (First Come, First Served):
This term means that licences are issued by Industry Canada generally in the order that associated licence applications are received.
MCS (Multipoint Communication System):
A term used to describe radio systems where a main fixed station (i.e. hub) communicates with other fixed stations (i.e. remotes) within a area. MCS offers voice and data applications for commercial subscribers.
MDS (Multipoint Distribution System):
A term used to describe radio systems where a main fixed station (i.e. hub) communicates with other fixed stations (i.e. remotes) within a area. MCS offers voice and data applications for commercial subscribers.
PCS ( Personal Communications Service):
A cellular telephone type of service that operates in the 1850-1910 MHz and 1930-1990 MHz radio frequency bands.
TEL (Local Telephone Service Area):
Such service areas generally correspond to the wireline service areas of local telephone companies operating in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.
