Creating a new application

Before you can create an application, you will need to create a Web Profile. The Web Profile will provide you with a user name and password for access to the secure areas of our site.

To create a new application:

1. From the Spectrum Direct main menu, click the Land Mobile Applications link to access the list of your land mobile applications. The first time you access a protected area, you will be prompted to log in.
2. Log in to the Spectrum Direct site with the user name and password from your Web Profile. You are presented with the Land Mobile Applications list. If this is your first application, the list is empty. Near the top of the page, there is a drop-down list that contains the company codes from your Web Profile. (If the name on the list is incorrect, contact Industry Canada to update the name.)
3. If you have more than one company code, use the drop-down list to select the company code that you'd like to use to create the application.
4. Use the Create button to create a new covering letter. The covering letter is the main component of any application. It provides basic information about yourself and your need for a radio licence to Industry Canada. For a detailed explanation of the form and each field, refer to Create/Edit Covering Letter.
5. Complete the following mandatory fields:
   - Your Reference Number
   - Processing Office
   - Person to Contact Regarding this Application
   - Phone Number
   - Type of System
   - Nature of Service
6. Complete the remaining fields to the best of your knowledge as applicable.
7. Use the Special Requirements field to provide any additional information or justification for your application and any unusual or exceptional features of your system.
8. If you require a licence for a frequency authorized to a third party, proceed with completing a third-party application.
9. Otherwise, use the Save button to save your application. You are presented with a view of the information you have just entered.
10. If the information is correct, use the application navigator to return to the Application Summary.

The Application Summary is your central point of access to the components of your application. You should proceed with creating a channel plan.

The application you created will appear on the Land Mobile Applications list the next time you access the Spectrum Direct site. At any time, you can exit our site and return to your application later on for further changes.
